Curriculum & Activities

Swiss Learning Center offers a variety of lesson plans and activities designed specifically for each age.  Our teachers incorporate different teaching philosophies and concepts in order to meet the needs of children at different ages and learning levels.

Spanish lessons and introduction to sign language (for infants & toddlers) are included in our daily curriculum.

Programs by Age Group

  • Infants(6 weeks to 11 months): At this age infants require a clean, safe and nurturing environment. They need attention, are eager to communicate, and are aware of the world around them. It is important to meet their needs by:

    • Responding when they cry

    • Providing continuous physical interaction

    • Talking, reading, and singing

    • Using puppet shows as teaching tools

    • Playing appropriate music for their age

    • Promoting tummy time

    • Providing floor time for development of gross motor skills

    • Introducing toys suitable for fine motor skills and sensory stimulation

    • Spending time outdoors

    • Preparing appropriate sleeping areas designed for babies

    • Stroller rides

  • Toddlers (12 months to 24 months): At this stage toddlers are mostly about exploring the environment around them and testing their own physical abilities and limitations. Curious toddlers need a safe environment with plenty of space to explore and make discoveries. We provide the right furniture, toys, and most importantly supervision to make sure this experience is safe and fun. Daily activities include:

    • Finger play and singing

    • Circle time

    • Large and small muscle activities (indoor and outdoor )

    • Sensory stimulation

    • Language development

    • Cognitive development

    • Directed activities and play

    • Independent activities and play

    • Potty training (if ready)

  • Older Three’s (3 years old): At this age confidence and self-esteem plays a major role, by now they have reached significant social and emotional development. The emphasis at this stage is on cognitive and intellectual areas of development. We will aid in teaching:

    • Counting skills

    • Writing skills

    • Spelling skills

    • Organization skills

    • How to work on independent projects with little direction

    • Caring for personal belongings

    • Coloring and arts

Daily Report using

BRIGHTWHEEL

We here at Swiss use Brightwheel, parents are provided with a full digital report of each child's activities that is received straight to your phone with notifications on the following;

  • What was eaten

  • If/when the child slept

  • Number of wet and dirty diapers or potty visits

  • What kind of day the child had in general

  • What outdoor and/or indoor activities the child participated in

  • General comments or questions for the parent from the child's teacher

  • Also live photos, videos, kudos, reminders, instant messages, etc.

We understand that parents rely on good communication for a clear understanding of their child's day while in our care. We welcome conversations between parents and teachers any time, but we also value each parent's time and understand that busy schedules don't always permit inquiries on a daily basis. Our daily reports provide basic information that can be communicated quickly and easily without requiring the parent to ask.

The child-to-teacher ratio varies according to age group at all daycare facilities. Swiss Learning Center 's ratio tends to be smaller due to classroom sizes, providing more individualized attention and a more controlled, comfortable, family-friendly environment than what is typically found at larger daycare centers.

MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE RATIOS:

0-11 months                4:1
12-17 months              5:1
18-23 months              9:1
2 years                          11:1
3-4 years                      15:1

***Due to the smaller-than-average class sizes, spaces are more limited at Swiss Learning Center than at larger daycare centers. We maintain a waiting list for each class, accommodating families to the best of our abilities whenever there is an opening in a classroom.
